If you are a complete beginner start here. The first lesson shows you how to take the sax out of the case and they move on to showing you the fingering. After these you want to check out the next section “tone development” to learn how to place your mouth on the sax and getting your first sounds.
How To Hold and Handle Your Sax
This topic might seem like there’s nothing much to it but you can really cause damage to your sax if you don’t handle it correctly. It’s a very delicate instrument and even the expensive models can be damaged easily.
In this video you’ll learn how to properly take the sax out of it’s case, put the neck on and off, hold the saxophone safely even with one hand.
Fingering Lesson 1
In this video is your very first Fingering Lesson which will show you exactly where to place your fingers on the sax and what the notes are. By the end of this lesson you will know where 7 of your 8 fingers go and you will be able to finger and know all the notes of a C major scale and know how to read the notes on the musical staff.
In this video (part 2) you will learn how to execute the the C major scale with a simple exercise involving only your fingers. By the end of this lesson you will be able to play the C major scale and part of a well-known song!
Fingering Lesson 2
Moving right along from the C scale we will learn 2 more notes as we look at the D scale. Also, a few more new musical terms. There is a second video on this lesson page that discusses the D major chord and related exercises.
